The 2007 Melinda Helfer Fairy Godmother Award
for Outstanding Contribution to the Romance Genre


(The Melinda Helfer Award is named in honor of RT's esteemed reviewer and dear friend.)

To honor Melinda's memory and to celebrate her love for authors and the romance genre, we have created an annual award to be given in her name.

This year's recipient is Kristin Ramsdell, a romance-friendly librarian who is a a strong advocate for romance novels and authors. Her quarterly review column in Library Journal gives the books much needed visibility in that arena and she frequently lectures on behalf of the genre. She has written articles and books on the subject of romance fiction, including WHAT ROMANCE DO I READ NEXT?: A READER'S GUIDE TO RECENT ROMANCE FICTION (1997, Thomson Gale). She was also named Librarian of the Year by the Romance Writers of America in 1996.

The 2006 Toby Bromberg Award for Most Humorous Mystery

(The Toby Bromberg Award is named in honor of RT's longtime mystery reviewer, who passed away in 2002.)

To honor Toby Bromberg's memory and to celebrate her enthusiasm and love for authors and the mystery genre, we have created an annual award to be given in her name. This year we are proud to announce the sixth recipient of The Toby Bromberg Award for Most Humorous Mystery Novel, Meg Cabot, for SIZE 14 IS NOT FAT EITHER, published by Avon Trade.
